If you choose a fertilizing system, it must be a low-acid one for proper healthy leaves. If you choose an organic, compost-based system that can't be used by humans as a fertilizer, you should add it at planting time.

Water your lawn as needed. In a very hot climate, you need a minimum of 10 inches of rain, and in less humid climates, you need 10–16 inches. If more than 20 inches of rain is not available, or if your lawn feels dry before it rains, try watering it less often. 



The weather in your location may be hard on your lawn and you will want to adjust your watering schedule to allow for the best care and watering. However, it is always better to be healthy than to have a disease. When we were at our destination last week, the weather was wetter but I was still able to plant our next lawn seed at the same time we put forth the lawn.
